Beychella is almost here!!! As I have been counting down the days, I wanted to begin a challenge to stay focused for the most epic music festival, Coachella.

This is where you come in. I will be sharing 3 Steps Guaranteed to Help You Lose Weight Faster and starting a weight loss challenge to countdown towards the festival.


3 Steps Guaranteed to Help You Lose Weight Faster


Let's admit it, we've all tried so many ways to lose weight. From fad diets that guarantee weight loss in 3 days, to weighing ourselves each day hoping to see significant weight loss from only one day of clean eating. No matter what quick fix you've tried, we've all been there. As a health and wellness coach, I wish that I could tell you that there was this magic formula in aisle 3 of your local grocery store guaranteed to help you lose weight, but there isn't. As much as I've tried to make this weight loss journey a quick fix, I've come to the revelation that losing weight is a journey of making healthy choices daily. Making healthy lifestyle changes is a process, however if you follow these 3 steps, I guarantee you will see results quicker than any quick fix diet.


Step 1: Reduce sugar and starches

Couldn't you just go for a brownie right now? We've all had that moment of wanting to indulge only to regret that we ate the whole batch of brownies. Cravings for sweets aren't a bad thing,it's called being human. It becomes bad when we let the food cravings control us and us not being in control of the food.

Added sugars such as cookies, ice cream, chocolates, etc., are foods that we draw to when we are stressed, lonely, anxious, etc. Starches such as processed foods, chips, crackers, cereals, pastas when consumed often, can lead to unhealthy weight gain.

Removing added sugars and starches will lower your insulin levels, reduce your appetite, and help you lose weight while eating healthy whole foods.


Step 2: Eat Protein, Fats, and Vegetables

Adding variety to your meals is key to getting all of the nutrients you need. Maintaining a healthy weight boils down to the amount of food you consume throughout the day. Each meal should incorporate a protein source, a fat source, and a fibrous carb(low-carb vegetable). High protein food consumption reduces your cravings causing you to eat fewer calories.

Protein include:

Eggs: Whole or egg whites

Seafood: Salmon, shrimp,

Meat: Turkey, Chicken, and any other lean meats

Step 3: Incorporate cardio and weight lifting

I always get asked the question, which is better cardio or weight lifting? The answer is both. Knowing what works for your body type is key. Cardio has been beneficial for me when I wanted to see quick weight loss results, however weight lifting is where I get my definition. For my personal routine, I incorporate cardio 5 x's a week and weight lifting 2-3 x's. When you lift weights, you burn more calories even at rest versus cardio which only burn fats or sugar, during your workout. You have to find what works for you. If a HIIT(high intensity interval training) works, be consistent with that.

Proper nutrition is the key for seeing weight lost results, however when you add cardio and weight training, you will reach your desired goals faster than proper nutrition alone.


Following these 3 Steps will help you reach your goals faster. My motto is that "It's more than the scale, it's a lifestyle." Healthy lifestyle choices is the ultimate way to reach and maintain you goals. Anything worth having is worth fighting for. Make a commitment today to chose healthier options versus a quick fad diet. Herbal teas, stomach sweat bands, etc. are all great tools to help assist your weight loss, but it all boils down to proper nutrition and exercise. Remember that it's your duty to take care of the temple that God gave you.
